The Bad Batch: A Project Stardust Roundtable (Episode 6)

Featuring Anna, Jennie, Nessa, Staci, and edited by Liv

The Project Stardust team has decided to come together to have a roundtable after each episode of The Bad Batch! Each week we will be discussing the things we liked and the questions we have about this episode. In preparation for this new series, we watched the Bad Batch Arc of The Clone Wars season 7, and most excitingly, some of us were brand new to The Clone Wars! In the coming weeks, we will be discussing the things we liked and the questions we have about each episode. This week, this group made up of both Clone Wars veterans and more recent fans of Clone Force 99 will be tackling episode 6 of The Bad Batch. As such, there are spoilers—if you haven’t watched the episode yet, come back here once you have!

One Thing We Loved

Anna: OMG Cid is voiced by Rhea Perlman! I knew her voice sounded so familiar, and it is so fitting. I also am thrilled that the Martez sisters are back!

Jennie: I love that Cid is back in this episode and hopefully some more to come. She’s a nice break from the clone boys and Omega and just the right mix of good and scum. Also, she kind of reminds me of Roz from Monsters Inc.

Nessa: I won’t lie, I was so excited to see the Martez sisters back. I love their dynamic and this unique little place they have in the Galaxy. It’s one of those things I love about the series so far—there are these moments that harken back to other events that are so close to the main thread, while also reminding us that there really isn’t a main thread happening in Star Wars? I have a lot of feelings about how the stories in Star Wars overlap in the best ways. It made me happy to see familiar faces.

Staci: It was cool to see the Martez sisters again! I had a feeling that they’d make another appearance at some point.

One Thing We Did Not Love

Anna: Can we PLEASE stop with the Wrecker head injuries. WE GET IT.

Jennie: Unpopular opinion that I’m sure my fellow Stardusters are going to beat me up about, but I’m just not sold on Omega. I thought over time I would learn to like her and see her overall value, but right now she’s just a whiny brat who refuses to listen. They seriously need to put her in timeout already! Maybe ground her? I’m still hoping she gets better, but this week she gets my down vote.

Nessa: Wrecker’s chip issue. It’s definitely going to come to a head (haha) and there are going to be issues, and the tension is destroying me. I really want to see it resolved or solved in some way. Can we just get Tech back to work on the inhibitor chip detector that he was working on for a while there? We need to save the big lad.

Staci: My least favorite thing Wrecker hitting his head again! Come on! This can’t be good for my boy. He even passed out this time. He better not go all wacked on the squad! I’ll be so mad!

We Have Questions

Anna: The holo. Is it Obi-Wan? Bail Organa? Mon Mothma?

Jennie: Probably the question most have… Who was in that holo to Rafa and Trace? I have many theories and I really hope we find out sooner rather than later. I feel like we keep getting left hanging in this series and we have so many questions, but each episode brings new, unrelated questions that make us forget the prior ones.

Nessa: Cid’s game. Listen, it’s more than obvious that Cid’s a survivor, too, and I really am convinced that she’s going to betray them. But when? How? Why? What’s going to be the right and convenient moment for her to throw the Bad Batch under the speeder bike?

Staci: Who was that on the holo? They were so perfectly hidden with just a hint of arm!

Bad Batcher of the Week

Anna: This was a great week for my Bad Batch Boyfriend, Tech, and for Echo. Tech continues to be a super solid and multi-talented member of the team, and he works very, very well with Echo. The “Is there an echo in here?” followed by “I’m Echo” slayed me.

Jennie: Sticking with Tech just because he’s the most consistent, unless you count the consistency of Wrecker getting hit in the head. At this point it’s going to take a lot to get me to change from Tech, unless he joins the Empire and Crosshair.

Nessa: Echo, for leaping on the opportunity to tell the greatest joke of all time. He saw his moment to shine and he SNATCHED it up. “Is there an echo in here?” It was golden.

Staci: I will say Omega stood out to me this week. She was so close to being burned up in that factory! I was hoping she wouldn’t but that was too close!
